Vacation Rental Description

This original ca. 1820 homestead sits apart on a quiet road high in the hills, a magical place surrounded by old stone walls, woods and solitude. 12 minutes from the village of Middleburgh, 30 miles southwest of Albany, 2 1/2 hours from New York's George Washington Bridge. Out back: spring-fed swimming/skating pond, stone fireplace, historic cemetery and 80 acres of gorgeous woods and fields for walking or cross-country skiing. Sleeps 6-8; two of four bedrooms have double beds; one, a 2-person trundle bed and child’s crib; one, a couch/extra mattress. Living room with brick hearth; eat-in kitchen with utensils/spices; 1 ½ baths; two pantries; study with desk; back porch; wide-screen VCR. Books, toys, wide-plank floors and beautiful antiques throughout. Kids welcome; we have little ones, so it's childproofed.
This is one of New York’s most rural areas: unspoiled old towns, historic sites, state hiking trails, public fishing, horseback riding and many antique shops within 15 minutes. Attractions in nearby towns:
● Cooperstown: The Baseball Hall of Fame, Farmers’ Museum, Fenimore Art Museum, Glimmerglass Opera.
●Cobleskill: Howe Caverns, Secret Caverns, Iroquois Museum.
●Cairo: Catskill Game Farm, the Northeast’s funkiest zoo
● East Durham, heart of the “Irish Catskills,” full of music pubs.
● Sharon Springs: famous old bathing resort
● Rensellaerville: fabulous 19th-century architecture, fine dining.
