Popular tourist attractions inclide the Old Mission Point Lighthouse, the National Cherry Festival (held in early july each year) and the nearyby Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore, known for glacial and beach features. Traverse City is a popular location for outdoor activities in all seasons due to the proximity of Lake Michigan in summer, the splendid fall colors, and the good snowfalls in winter.
