Manistee is a Victorian Port City on the west coast of Michigan, located between Lake Michigan and Manistee Lake. The city was originally a lumber center that at one time boasted more millionaires per capita than any other area in the USA. As lumber became less important, Manistee diversified its commercial activity and is now a thriving year round resort. Manistee's entire downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Manistee features good golf courses including the new Manistee National and the new Arcadia Bluffs. Beautiful beaches offer chances for recreation as do the biking, hiking and snowmobile trails in the Manistee National Forest. Charter fishing tours also depart from the city, affording visitors the chance to catch Salmon and other game fish.
