Located at the north of Monterey Bay, Santa Cruz features a mild climate and is famous as a beach town where the Hawaiian royalty first introduced surfing to the mainland.


The Boardwalk amusement park is an active reminder of bygone times when these parks were found in all coastal California towns, and the trail along the shore affords excellent views of the coastline and of the vast number of surfers.


Santa Cruz is not far from a number of State Parks and State Beaches (including the impressive Natural Bridges SB), and is close to the Monterey peninsula.


Santa Cruz features a redeveloped downtown, beaches, and excellent restaurants. A number of historic walks have been developed to allow people to appreciate the city.
